Our Approach and Structure
Premier Foods is committed to managing its business in a socially responsible manner; indeed we believe strongly that Corporate Responsibility is one of its key strategic priorities.
In today’s grocery marketplace, all of our stakeholders - particularly employees, customers, suppliers and consumers - are concerned with the quality and ‘healthiness’ of our products, the ethical way in which we source food ingredients and the effect that the production and transportation of our products has on the environment.
In 2008, we further improved our performance across a range of CSR related issues, highlights of which we have included within our CSR report. In the year, we also recruited a dedicated Group CSR Manager to ensure the co-ordination and delivery of CSR related activities.
We have developed our Corporate Responsibility strategy into one based on “doing the right thing” focussing on a number of key areas which include:
• Environmental management
• Packaging reduction
• Water conservation
• Transport
• Employee health and safety
• Ethical trading
• Sustainable procurement
• Food safety and quality
• Health and nutrition
• Community involvement
• Charitable giving
In 2009, we have set challenging targets to further improve our performance across a range of environment and social compliance indicators.
Our Chief Executive Officer, Robert Schofield continues to take a leading role and chairs the quarterly Corporate Responsibility Steering Group through which our strategy is developed and delivered.
